Many dogs love the beach, it gives them the space to run and roam free as well as to enjoy the sea and swimming.  There are many beaches in the UK which are dog friendly and allow dogs to roam free but do always check before you visit to see if there are any access restrictions and do remember to pick up any mess your dog makes, as well as keep them on the lead if there is wildlife around.

South

Milford on sea, Bournemouth: One of the few all year-round dog friendly beaches in Hampshire. This shingle beach is surrounded by low cliffs and colourful beach huts. For additional walking there is a nature reserve right behind where dogs are welcome.

Dungees Beach, Kent: Best for doggy explorers, who like to run and run. The beach is said to be the second largest shingle beach in the world. The Romey Marshes border has plenty of wildlife so make sure to keep your four-legged friend on a lead if they like chasing birds!

 

South West

Cornwall – There are many wonderful dog friendly beaches in Cornwall with plenty to choose from whether you prefer sandy or stony, busy or remote there is something for everyone. Crumble’s favourites are Constantine Bay and Porthcothan. Fistral Beach in Newquay is another popular holiday destination and is open to dogs all year round and is one of the best surfing beaches in the UK!

East

Thorney Bay Beach, Essex:  Not far from the coastal town of Southend on sea and easily accessible from central London, means this beach is day trip heaven for many city dogs.

Brancaster Beach, North Norfolk: The perfect beach to let our furry pals stretch their legs, with a long wide sandy beach that goes on for miles! Never too crowded so dogs are allowed all year round[AT1] .

 

North East

Cayton Bay, Yorkshire: A lovely sandy bay sheltered by tall cliffs, not far from Scarborough.  Dogs are allowed all year round and it’s popular with surfers too.

 

North West

Seascale, Cumbria:  This long beach, complete with pebbles, sand and sand dunes is the ideal place to let your pooch run, swim and get rid of some of their energy!

 

 

Wales

Towyn Beach, North Wales: Towyn is the perfect seaside town with a sheltered shingle and sandy beach complete with attractions for all the family.  Dogs are welcome all year round and can enjoy running around the entire beach.

Ogmore, South Wales: This is known for Tusker Rock named after the Danish Viking. The beach is a popular one for both dogs, divers, swimmers and fishers. It is easily accessible by the long ramp which goes down the side of the cliff.

 

Scotland

Cramond Beach, Edinburgh:  To the north west of Edinburgh, this beach is an easy escape from the city. There is plenty of space to let the pooches run about and at low tide you can walk all the way to the causeway.
